“I’ve applied for three to five jobs a week for two years. Now I don’t even get any calls anymore,”
yep sad but true, read the article,
http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/may/10/tp-long-term-jobless-benefits-cut/
that link is for democrats,
this link is for republicans,, so as to not discriminate against party lines,
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/05/06/for-chronically-unemployed-more-bad-news-in-calif574/
quote "The Golden State has lost its luster for many of the chronically unemployed, and even for those whose job it is to provide anti-poverty services to them. With just two weeks’ notice, those 93,000 people will join 670,000 other unemployed Californians whose benefits, averaging $292 a week, already have run out.
wow, well between unemployed and welfare that brings the the total to over 1 million, 2 hundred thousand out of benefits, WOW.

Well Jack why do you think I am all about stopping the flood of cheap labor from mexico in the form of illegal aliens? I have several trades under my belt and watch illegal immigrants (undocumented workers, you know the oppressed people)take over every trade and damn near every business in California.

Haha….or get your permit, grow the allowed number of pot plants, and sell medical mj to facilities. Completely legal.
You apply for 4 jobs per week for 2 years, and still no job, you’re either applying for the wrong jobs or there’s something about you they don’t like.

That comment struck a note with me because although it sounds so harsh, it is so true. I have a good friend who I’ve known for twenty-some years and who is quite smart, has marketable skills and in normal social life is a great guy to be around.
The thing is, over the course of those twenty years he has been dumped from three or four good-paying jobs that I know of, and the reason every time was not that he was incompetent at the actual job, but was related to the fact that within the work environment he manages to royally piss off his bosses, supervisors and co-workers.
So here we have a guy who on the surface should be eminently employable, but because he suffers from what I sometimes call “social autism” (seemingly blind to how things said or done are perceived by others) is scraping by with mostly part-time gigs.
In the current tight job environment the bar is raised for job seekers, and only the top contenders get the few openings. Again, very harsh and very true.

Jack one year I either sent in or hand given to employers 5oo job appilications, I went to Bonn’s Print shop on Lancaster Blvd. and got a pad of job appilications forms every time I ran out, I carried at least ten filled out job appilications with me every time I left the house. So every time I passed a place that had help wanted or advertising I gave the employer an already filled out appilication. Virtually every business employed hispanics I am sure not all of them were illegal aliens but I bet most were. With the flood of illegal and legal immigrants its not going to be easy fnding a job, but you can increase your chances by doing what I did. For one thing it shows that you are really seeking a job and is clever enough to avoid wasting time filling out appilications. Join me, raise your voice in complaint about how immigrants are preventing you the disabled citizen from getting a job.

If immigration laws were enforced, you wouldn’t have to go far or long to find work.
NumbersUSA.com. We all should feel some obligation to get involved. NumbersUSA has prepared faxes for you to send to Congressmen, Reps, and political leaders. Just go to the site and click send after signing in. Only takes a minute and those faxes do help. More is better. :-)
If you do nothing now, good luck to your kids and grandkids finding work when they come of age. Typically their first jobs are often fast food. I don’t think the majority of fastfood joints employ many teenage Americans anymore. At least not around here.

As everyone has known for a long time, it’s not WHAT you know, but WHO you know.
I knew many IT people looking for work back in ‘03, who sat on the unemployment lines for over a year. There were many highly-qualified people who couldn’t get work, back then, thru the early 2000’s.
Most people have the resumes to qualify for work, but are turned down because of their salary histories. Corps & private industry only want to hire cheap, and until that person comes along, or the overly qualified person relents to work for less — all are ‘disqualified’.
Check out Obama’s American Jobs Act:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/jobs_act.pdf
Included in this plan is rewarding American manufacturers in lieu of tax-breaks to bring jobs back to America.
Americans were told before the big crash of ‘08 that the only jobs Americans could do were ’service’ jobs, like retail, housecleaning and tourism.
Bring the mfg jobs back to America, our exports will increase, and more people will be back to work.

Don’t expect any Occupy Wall Street people to apply for that job. It would interfere with the growing of dredlocks, growing home grown marijuana, and it would upset their ability to sleep in until 2pm. This job sounds like it might require some knowledge, experience, and require references showing a good work ethic. Yep, don’t think any Occupy Chuds will apply.

by the way, the headline is not my quote, its the quote of a frustrated unemployed person, who really wants to work, who has lost hope.
