Time to worry
“Now, no one disputes that this is a real disaster and that BP acted irresponsibly in commissioning Trans-Ocean and Halliburton to drill for oil in waters so deep that if a failure occurred there would be no way to fix it — at least until major damage had been done. BP, Trans-Ocean, and Halliburton, as well as the individuals involved, have much to answer for.

But the action of the President in demanding this immense transfer of the stockholders’ wealth without any legislation or court decision is extremely worrisome.

We live in a Constitutional Republic. The President’s job under the Constitution is to enforce the laws made by the elected Congress. His job is not to create new laws and enforce them all by himself. His job is as magistrate under the Constitution, not as Caudillo. He is not the law. He is supposed to enforce what Congress decides."— Ben Stein

http://spectator.org/archives/2010/06/16/the-caudillo-president

“Without any new legislation, President Obama has used returned TARP money as a political slush fund to prop up favorite industries. This is the same problem: serious executive action without legislative authority.

The same goes for Mr. Obama’s demand that BP pay the lost wages of oil and gas workers suspended from work because of the moratorium on Gulf of Mexico underseas drilling. There simply was no legislation allowing this kind of specific demand. Mr. Obama’s demand was in the nature of a threat, more than a Constitutional act."

“If you want to know why business has pulled in its horns and hunkered down, and why people at tea parties and elsewhere are scared, look no further than Barack “I Am The Law” Obama.

Is there anyone in Congress to stop him?"

“The bill would grant President Obama the power to declare a “national cyber-emergency” at his discretion and force private companies tied to the Web, including Internet service providers and search engines, to take action in response—moves that could include limiting or even cutting off their connections to the World Wide Web for up to 30 days.”

“The president is starting to look snakebit. He’s starting to look unlucky, like Jimmy Carter. It wasn’t Mr. Carter’s fault that the American diplomats were taken hostage in Tehran, but he handled it badly, and suffered. He defied the rule of the King in “Pippin,” the Broadway show of Carter’s era, who spoke of “the rule that every general knows by heart, that it’s smarter to be lucky than it’s lucky to be smart.” Mr. Carter’s opposite was Bill Clinton, on whom fortune smiled with eight years of relative peace and a worldwide economic boom. What misfortune Mr. Clinton experienced he mostly created himself. History didn’t impose it.

But Mr. Obama is starting to look unlucky, and–file this under Mysteries of Leadership–that is dangerous for him because Americans get nervous when they have a snakebit president. They want presidents on whom the sun shines."

BP is at fault for this mess and should pay, my problem is with the government intervening by taking the companies money and we know what happens when they do.

YES, there are people who deserve the money, but if you’ll remember correctly; when Katrina’s “victims” got a debit card they went on a Louis Vuitton shopping spree on top of flat screen tv’s. This is documented…

BP’s exec was correct in one way, USA has a habit of suing for ANYTHING and this money I’m afraid will be handed out without real proof of damage/loss of business.

You run a stop sign, and get a ticket. Because the law says the maximum fine that can be imposed is $75. The chief of police calls you into his office and says because of the damage you did by running that sign, you will pay $2,000 and face public scrutiny and humiliation.

You agree to this “down payment” because the chief can make life even worse than groveling, and paying fines can be.

The question then becomes is it ok for the chief of police to demand this tribute? As citizens are we happy the chief does this, because we all get a cut of your bank account?

No question running that stop sign was bad, it caused a very big mess in some people’s pants and they feel like you should pay.

Do we support special unwritten laws because we feel them necessary? Will special unwritten laws ever end? Is anybody safe from unwritten laws?

“A Coast Guard representative told ABC News today that it shares the same goal as the governor.

“We are all in this together. The enemy is the oil,” said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Dan Lauer.

But the Coast Guard ordered the stoppage because of reasons that Jindal found frustrating. The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges."

Does the writer of this article have proof that Obama demanded that BP surrender shareholder’s dividends for 1 year, or did BP make this corporate decision?

RH:Is cyberspace about to get censored?"

Cyberspace is already censored and monitored thanks to HomeLandSecurity and Shrub’s secret pals via At&t. At&T & Comcast want complete control to filter what they deem relevant-this is what this bill is about.

Google ‘BP’ right now and you’ll see how they’ve monopolized the top 6-7 links with PR.

Yep, and we know who started this madness don’t we? And, we know why. So, oil is gushing out of the gulf at 20,000 barrels a day and Repug’s defend BP and say that taxpayers should pay for it. What a laff.
alllll that oil spewing out of the gulf that could’ve been used by THIS country—and we wouldn’t even have had to go to Iraq & Afghanistan and fight the oil wars for the corps over there.

Are you sitting down?

Okay, here’s the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland, since its first spewing of volcanic ash did, in just FOUR DAYS, NEGATE EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet – all of you.

Of course you know about this evil carbon dioxide that we are trying to suppress – it’s that vital chemical compound that every plant requires to live and grow and to synthesize into oxygen for us humans and all animal life.

I know, I know…. (group hug)…it’s very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of: driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up till midnight to finish your kid’s “The Green Revolution” science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, vacationing at home instead of Bali, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs …well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just four days.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth’s atmosphere in just four days – yes – FOUR DAYS ONLY – by that volcano in Iceland, has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud any one time – EVERY DAY.

Oh, I don’t really want to rain on your parade too much, but I should mention that when the volcano Mt Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in its entire 40 MILLION YEARS on earth. Yes folks, Mt Pinatubo was active for over one year – think about it.

Of course I shouldn’t spoil this touchy-feely tree-hugging moment and mention the effect of solar and cosmic activity and the well-recognized 800-year global heating and cooling cycle, which keep happening, despite our completely insignificant efforts to affect climate change.

I’m so sorry. And I do wish I had a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the bush and brush fire season across the western USA and Australia this year alone will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our world for the next two to three years. And it happens every year.

Just remember that your government just tried to impose a whopping carbon tax on you on the basis of the bogus “human-caused” climate change scenario.

Hey, isn’t it interesting how they don’t mention “Global Warming” any more, but just “Climate Change” – you know why? It’s because the planet has COOLED by 0.7 degrees in the past century and these global warming [purveyors of untruth] artists got caught with their pants down.

And just keep in mind that if that same government is re-elected, you will have an Emissions Trading Scheme – that whopping new tax – imposed on you, that will achieve absolutely nothing except make you poorer. It won’t stop any volcanoes from erupting, that’s for sure.

But hey, grab a Coke, give the world a hug and have a nice day!

PS: I wonder if Iceland is buying carbon offsets?
