Christianity Under Attack, Part 2
During the past Christmas season, I wrote a blog-post describing how Christian symbols are being removed by the far left wing liberal groups. These groups, the ACLU and Atheists groups, are attacking any Christian symbol they can, citing the First Amendment.
The lastest example has occurred at a Cranston High School in Rhode Island. A student at the high school, Jessica Alquist, an Atheist, filed a law suit requesting a banner that contains a school prayer, be removed. The ACLU is assisting with the law suit saying it is a violation of the First Amendment.
The prayer
************************************
The banner reads in full:
“Our Heavenly Father,
Grant us each day the desire to do our best,
To grow mentally and morally as well as physically,
To be kind and helpful to our classmates and teachers,
To be honest with ourselves as well as with others,
Help us to be good sports and smile when we lose as well as when we win,
Teach us the value of true friendship,
Help us always to conduct ourselves so as to bring credit to Cranston High School West.
Amen"
The prayer is offensive to who? Jessica Alquist. The lower courts ruled in Jessica’s favor and the prayer banner has been ordered removed. There are appeals being made and the support of the community to keep the banner in place is overwhelming.
How about putting the prayer banner on an election ballot and let the people decide if it should be taken down? Let the people decide rather than a high school girl and a judge.
What amazes me is the prayer promotes decent behavior. The key objectionable words in the prayer are “Our Heavenly Father” and “Amen.”
I think we know what the motivations are behind these law suits, much like the Mojave Cross suit. It is about 15 minutes of fame and the satisfaction of having influence over large numbers of people. I am sure there is a monetary motive, but the combined efforts from the left to remove Christianity from our society is clear.
The Presidents Healthcare debacle declaring religious based medical institutions must provide contraception against religious values. This is an attempt to hit Christians hard and minimize Christian values for the sake of providing free rubbers and other contraceptive devices to “women.” When religioius organizations objected, the left turned the issue into a GOP attack on women and breast cancer. Assisting with the attack is the Democratic media wing.
The fingers of the far left are not going to stop with the Cranston High School prayer banner, it continues with the banning of prayer at High School football games, prayers at graduations, even religious logos on clothing at schools. The left loves to cite the First Amendment, yet they deny Christians and the majority of Americans to freely express their religion by objecting to something as simple as a prayer.
Like the Lancaster City Council prayer, which may take a minute or two of time, people objecting to it, rather than have a moment of silence to themselves, are willing to waste millions to ban such a moment.
The Atheist attacks are not childish, they are serious and with a far left that has nothing but disdain towards religion, are going to pull their resources to remove religious symbols from our public lives.

She is a proud beacon for the Atheist community. Atheists all over the country, all 233 of them, are applauding this court ruling.

I totally agree, the atheists and the far left are trying to circumvent everybody’s rights but their own.

The dear child must be terribly traumitized and will need counseling the rest of her life after reading the prayer. Come on are we going to allow the left liberal loonies to dictate to the majority? Stand up act like men or fall down and live on your knees the rest of your lives. Not addressing anyone in particular, but one thing I’ve learned is not to allow anyone to bully me.

Like the Mojave Cross, Nativity Scenes, Prayers, and a 15 minute power trip, are the driving force behind these attacks. It is a good thing it was not a Muslim prayer, they would have buried her up to her waist and stoned her before cutting her head off.

Even at this years Grammy’s, Christianity was under attack by Nicki Minaj’s performance. The left wing media approved of this on prime time TV. The slam towards the Catholic Church is huge and it is pretty demonic.
All this after there was a prayer for Whitney Houston at the start of the awards show. That was a good photo-op for the stars to show their soft side.
For you viewing pleasure, Nicki Minaj****

A modern day classic music video with religion being mocked. There is a very demonic flare to this video. Amazing that is was on Prime Time. I bet a lot of Catholics were not happy watching this video as well as Christians from other denominations.

Back to the original post.
This case is slightly different in that the prayer did NOT mention a specific deity or religious affiliation.
On the same token, why is religion constantly being thrown into everything. Geeze, people, you got your churches, you got the privacy of your own homes. Leave the rest of us alone. Nobody is stopping you from praying as an individual no matter where you are.
The issue is when you start to plaster your prayers and what not all over the place. Your just asking for someone (who has the same right) to start posting an opposing message.
Has common sense gone out the window?
As far as Nicki Minaj’s performance, so what? Is it really any worse than an Alice Cooper performance from past decades or even Screamin’ Jay Hawkins from the 1950’s and 1960’s?
Do we really want to go down the road of censorship? This is still America isn’t it?

I am not advocating censorship, but do you think the Grammy’s would have had a Christian singer perform. The context of this video was to slam Christianity, that is the far lefts montra right now since two of the GOP contenders are Christians. The attacks keep coming.
The school prayer has been posted for decades. Can you tell me what in the prayer would really offend anyone of sound mind? This girl is smart and this is an attention getter for her. She will probably receive some form of scholarship offer from some school for her actions along with donations. It is like the Mojave Cross, who in their right minds would be blinded and recieve a blast from God because there is, or was, a memorial cross on top of a desert mountain.

The latest in the religious double standard goes to Grand Junction Colorado. A boy in a high school choir, quite because they were going to perform a song singing praises to Ala with an Islamic worship song. Go Figure.

its more than a double standard they are hypocrites, I bet the atheists are traumtized every time they pass by a church and see a cross. What a bunch of hypocrites, degenerates and idiots who dictate to the rest of us yet the minute their rights of free speech is threatened they go bananas. Look at how crazy Marsh is about the subect, but then again he hates everything about america yet chooses to stay in a country where he has it good. if he don’t like it he can leave for one of the people’s paradises.

Again, a common sense approach is all I’m saying. And there have been Christian performances at the Grammy’s in the past. She just performed her latest record. Whether you look at it as anti-christian or not. I’m not sure that was the theme. It looked like a satire of exorcism to me, which is Christian (Catholic anyways). Yes it was exaggerated as satire often is. It’s not better or worse than the original movie The Exorcist.
CW
The issue is merely where is religious symbolism appropriate. A church is fine. Your home is fine. But at a school or any governmental building, it probably isn’t. A private business, yes it’s appropriate. You can place religious symbols any public place where the public can chose whether to do business in that establishment or not. But at a governmental facility, you have no choice.
Plus, if the government agency allows it—what of the atheist want to place an apposing statement, or the Wicans or satanists. It starts to get out of hand.
Again, a little common sense goes a long way.

Another problem is how the left uses religion. At the start of the Grammy’s, there was a prayer for Whitney Houston. The camera panned and showed all these liberal musicians with their heads bowed. Some of them were probably praying, but a lot of it was for show. Like Bill Clinton carrying the Bible on Sundays when leaving church.
The Left is a huge propaganda machine. Whether is be having uniformed police officers unions standing behind Democratic politicians and the left thinking that is spectacular (good photo-op stuff), then the left is throwing bags of urine and shit at cops during Occupy Protests. The left will use what is can for the moment, but then the true venom of the left will be spewed towards Religion, Law Enforcement, and the Military.

Another great example of the “fly off the handle” responce with libs occurred with the late John Murtha. When the Haditha Marines were suspected of the murders of innocent civilians in Iraq, John Murtha, the former Marine and Congressman, before the facts were known, made disparaging remarks about the Marines. In other words, he was using the incident to damage the Bush war effort and came to a conclusion the Marines were guilty before a trial and before the facts were brought out. Murtha was a hero to the Left for his attacks on the Marines because it was another wedge in an attempt to damage President Bush.
It is to bad Murtha died. I would have like the Marines accused of the murders to have sued him for slander. His remarks were politically motivated and not about allowing the Marines their due process. John Murtha, a hero to the liberal left, but in reality, an asshole.

CRANSTON, R.I. – The Rhode Island teen who was recently thrust into the national spotlight for fighting to have a prayer banner at her high school removed, is now receiving a scholarship from an atheist group, MyFoxBoston.com reports.
The American Humanist Association, a national atheist organization, says that Jessica Ahlquist, 16, of Cranston High School West, stood up for her beliefs despite critics and, “responded well to online threats when she challenged the constitutionality of the display,” MyFoxBoston reports.
The group’s campaign has resulted in $40,000 raised on the website, the Friendly Atheist.
On Feb. 9, FoxNews.com reported that Ahlquist, an atheist, filed a complaint with the American Civil Liberties Union after deciding the banner’s presence in a public school was unconstitutional.
The banner had been hanging for decades, and included the words, “Our Heavenly Father,” and “Amen,” according to the report.
A federal judge ordered that the banner be taken down, and Cranston’s school committee decided not to appeal last week, MyFoxBoston reports.
