16 horrible things that would definitely happen if Republicans regained control of the government

Democrats may not exactly be the people’s party, but the GOP is the corporate darling and that should be enough to motivate progressives to vote
The Washington Post reported there is an apparent revolt among the big money donors on Wall Street against the Democrats. Democratic contributions are down 65 percent from two years ago, the post aptly reports.
It stems from pending financial regulatory reform, which House Democrats passed last week with almost no Republican support.
But the cable network talking heads conveniently fail to mention, while saying it is because the Obama administration and Democrats “don’t understand business,” is the reason behind this is blatantly obvious.
In the months leading up to financial reform, since the financial meltdown, Republicans are obviously just getting paid for all their obstruction. The Republicans continue to be — despite their tea party hype, despite all the angry populist musings, despite that a fair chunk of their constituents live in poverty — the Corporate party. The party of limited government involvement and oversight into the financial market, the party of “drill, baby drill,” the party that put an oil and natural gas executive in the White House, the party that oppresses poor people and props up the rich.
This is the party that passed the Wall Street bailout. It is the party that made it nearly impossible for individual consumers to effectively file for bankruptcy while insuring that investors, when a company goes belly up, are shored up.
The differences between the parties could not be more poignant and critical today. And it’s not because the Democrats are good but because the Republicans are EVIL!
You might not like President Obama. You might not like Harry Reid. The question is, how screwed would we be if the Republicans were to regain control? Sharon Angle anyone?
Let me spell it out.
- Exponentially more offshore drilling and raping of our natural resources with nothing but apologies to the big corporations as they ruin the environment.
- No significant environmentally-conscientious energy legislation ever.
- Creationism not evolution taught as science in every K-12 school in this country.
- Texas-style rewrites of American history gone national.
- Glenn Beck would have a cabinet position and Rush Limbaugh would be the new White House Press Secretary.
- No draw-downs, to time-lines, just more troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
- No rules of the road for Wall Street and financial institutions.
- Lower taxes for the rich.
- Repeal of health care reform.
- Elimination of Social Security.
- More ultra conservative Supreme court Judicial appointment — which will inevitably lead to the repeal of Roe v. Wade. This will cause the unintended and unwanted births of thousands of children each year who will be abused, neglected and impoverished.
- The passage of a new Patriot Act. This one designed specifically to weed out “anti-American” Americans. Bill authored by Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann.
- Drastically scaled back government spending to boost the economy, huge increases in government spending on new military conflicts and 20th century military technology (like massive Cold War era fighter planes that are absolutely useless except that they make the military brass as giddy as school girls).
- The possibility that someone even dumber that George W. Bush (Sarah Palin) will occupy the White House.
- No repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. In fact, there might be a constitutional amendment to ban all gays, even the hidden ones, from joining the military.
- A 24-foot wall on the U.S. Mexican border and 24-hour brigade of armed guards posted 12-feet apart with orders to shoot anything that moves, costing about $200 billion per year. Contract awarded to Blackwater.
“Democrats worked hard to pass reform with tough oversight, accountability and regulation, and it’s no secret the big banks were against it,” said Deirdre Murphy, spokeswoman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “But we believe preventing another financial collapse is the responsible thing to do, and at the end of the day, we will have the resources we need to compete in our targeted states, as will our candidates.”
Republicans generally think very poorly of the poorer elements of their base as clearly evidenced by the leaked fund-raising primer labeling Obama “the Joker” and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “Cruella DeVille.” They know there is an element of their base that is driven entirely by fear and bigotry. They assume these folks will not remember, make any logical connection or care that it was the Republican party who administered the Wall Street bailouts. In fact, some ads are already making the false claim that the bailouts happened on Obama’s watch. They assume their people won’t really make the logical connection between whose funding their campaigns and whose interests they are looking out for while in office. But the only Republican constituency that really matters to the GOP are the wealthy, the corporations, Wall street bankers, the insurance and oil and gas industry, etc. If you think you are a populist and you vote Republican, you are an idiot.

our local repug’s seem to be stealing from us right and left. the 10.5 mil blvd project is now at 20 mil, park view has been stolen and given to private concerns, and now the district office has been taken.

One of the dumbest rumors circulating on this site is that park View School was sold to the U AV. Wrong. The school district has absolutely no intention of selling a public school, but are currently leasing classrooms at the school to the Univ. of Antelope Valley. The district is collecting an income from a closed school. The city of Lancaster has no control over a public school in the Lancaster School District.

Due to severe budget cuts and declining enrollment, the Lancaster School District had to make a decision to close a school. Park View was the oldest, the most costly to operate due to decaying infrastructure and old fashioned not very well insulated construction. It also happened to be situated central and in the middle of all of the other schools. The decision to close was a tough one emotionally but the right move financially. The Lancaster School District has no plans to sell the school and hopes that in the future they’ll be able to modernize it and reopen. It all depends on enrollment and future income. I attended Park View in the 7th and 8th grade back in 1960 and 1961. I was concerned with what was going to happen to the school and met with district officials to find out what was going to take place on the property for the next few years. I don’t know who “Lancaster” is because he/she chooses to hide behind a fake name, but I can certainly and easily identify a hysterical conspiracy theorist craving attention. When I review the phenomenal number of postings made on this site by “Lancaster”, I can only assume that this blog site is his/her occupation. As they say: Someone always has to stir the pot and every village needs an idiot!

i also read the press release lew. i also attended park view school, more yrs ago then i care to admit. kindergarten.
NONE of which answers the problems HERE. when u speak of low attendance maybe u could list the schools with the biggest drop in attendance. was it park view? NO.
the newer schools, through unsold homes and foreclosures had bigger drops in attendance.
now, lets look at the lies. when parents were called in to be told their kids would be shipped to other sites (not chosen by the parents) they were told there would be buses. now the buses will ONLY be provided for any kid over 2 1/2 miles away. in other words, EVER KID assigned to armagossa will be walking. the other school offered? endeavor. MILES from these children’s homes.
they were told there would be no layoffs, 24 laid off.
they were told they would reopen the school (to those that own it, the public) in better economic times.
which will never happen NOW, as in today, because the U of AV is busy getting comfortable there. whether the city has leased it to them in a dollar a yr deal, or straight up escrow.
THE CITY ALSO HAS BIG PLANS FOR THE DISTRICT OFFICES ON CEDER.
now being a politician, as u are, u hope no one will notice till the plans can be set in stone, and nothing can be done about it. which might work. the people most affected will be busy trying to keep house and home together in hard economic times. who knew they would have this hardship handed to them?
the fact that u went to school there has little to do with it. u might CARE about the school grounds, but that has nothing to do with the welfare of the kids who are now to be shipped far from home. and since we’re talking lower middle class family’s miles will be nothing more or less then a HARDSHIP!
2 WORKING PARENTS, ONE CAR FAMILY, SINGLE PARENT FAMILY’S, AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY’S REQUIRING SPECIAL TRANSPORTATION, AND HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN WALKING THE STREETS. 12 TO 14YR OLDS.

Before you call Sarah Palin “dumb.” Obama has had many incidents where he has shown how “stupidly” he is. He is “lawyer smart,” but when it comes to living in the real world, he has proven to be a fake.
At least Sarah Palin was on a city council and rose to be governor of the State of Alaska. Those qualifications are equal than or greater than Obama’s Community Organizer and part time Senator job. Don’t forget, the media covers for Obama. The media looks for any dirt on Palin they can find and they run with. After reading lancasters outburst and verbal bashings against other bloggers, I can understand why lancaster is such a staunch Obama supporter. You fit right in there with the other koolaid drinkers thinking Obama is gonna pay your mortgage and you will never have to pay for gas again. That is the company you are siding with, “like Christmas, Free Health Care.”
I am glad you found 16 things that are really not a true concern compared to the hundreds of things Obama has done. I will hope and pray for a complete government “CHANGE” in the next two years. Maybe by then, the damage caused by Obama won’t be so great it can’t be undone (I know, Bush caused all this..)

Well, I am glad you have paid your own way all your life. So have I. I am glad that you want more of your income taxed, and you believe in working for less with no hope of a rainbow at the end of a career.
I am looking forward to my retirement in a couple of years. I will be moving out of this state because taxes are only going to get worse in this state before they ever get better.
Hopefully, in a couple of years, all of this dept Obama had HELPED (I not forgetting Bush’s part in this) create.

Think of the welfare extention benefits that was just voted on in DC. The GOP will be bashed for not supporting the 33 billion dollar package. Republicans wanted the 33 billion to come from cuts in the budget. Dems want to wave their magic wands, and poof, 33 billion dollars printed and added to the nations debt. I am glad lancaster supports a president who thinks he can allow the government to operate without any consequences.
