WIMPY LEADERS IGNORE A STRONG PEOPLE
WIMPY LEADERS IGNORE A STRONG PEOPLE
Wednesday, July 21, 2010 by Jim Hightower

Right-wing Republicans and corporate Democrats have become a pathetic bunch of “No-can-do Nancys.”

Faced with an economy reeling from the plutocratic policies that these same lawmakers pushed down upon us, they are now whimpering that America is too weak to meet the obvious needs of its own people. “We must surrender to the Gods of Economic Despair,” they cry. At a time when history calls for our leaders to step forth with a bit of FDR boldness and rally grassroots people to rebuild our economy, they trumpet for retreat, giving up on America’s historic ideal of the common good.

A jobs program? “Everyone for themselves,” they shout. Health care for all? “Go to the emergency room,” they scream. Social Security? “Socialism,” they screech, “run away from it!” Public education? “Can’t afford it,” they tell us, as they turn their backs on hundreds of thousands of teachers soon to be fired. Repair America’s rotting infrastructure? "Too big for us, " they wail, “leave it to the next generation.”

Wagging teabags rather than picking up the tools of real recovery, the woeful voices of American failure insist that they speak for the People. Hogwash. Americans are a strong, community-minded, democratic-spirited, can-do people. Indeed, the latest Gallop poll shows that 60 percent of the public favors “additional government spending to create jobs and stimulate the economy.”

“But we must balance the budget,” whine the naysayers. Of course we should, and big majorities say we should do that by putting people to work, taxing the superrich to pay their fair share of Social Security and other public needs, as well as by slashing the $12 billion a month we’re spending for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It’s time for our “leaders” to stop whining – and catch up to the people.

“In the American experience, while liberals have no legitimate claim to the Founders, they do have their ancestors. Modern liberalism is the descendant of early-20th-century progressivism, which was embodied by Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, and yes, Teddy Roosevelt (progressivism enjoyed favor in both parties then — at least portions of both). Roughly, Wilson is the liberals’ Jefferson, while FDR is their Washington. But to read anything of Wilson’s thoughts and ideas about government and its relationship to the people is to read a man who is nearly the antithesis of Jefferson.

Today, we are a nation divided; a nation, if you will, of two peoples with distinctly different heritages — politically, at least. Liberty-loving Americans have Locke, Montesquieu, Blackstone, and Adam Smith, while statist liberals have Marx, Hegel, and Darwin — and, lest we forget, Saul Alinsky. Freedom-loving Americans embrace the Founders, while statist liberals have Wilson and FDR. A solid majority of Americans are lovers of liberty, however. It’s they who must be rallied to the great cause of reclaiming lost freedoms and returning government to its proper limited role in a free society."

If you liked that last article you will love this one: "While Obama’s reputation may no longer be that of a demigod, it hasn’t fallen very far among much of the country’s political elite. In uptown Manhattan and within the Beltway, Obama is viewed as a mastermind, a political wizard who gets pretty much what he wants and accomplishes what he sets out to do. As evidence for this thesis, we’re reminded that in his first eighteen months as president, Obama passed the stimulus, ObamaCare, and now a financial reform bill, a record unparalleled since FDR’s legendary “Hundred Days.” To Thomma, this means the coming of the millennium, a down payment on a pure socialist state that the left has been yearning for since the ’30s. To Krauthammer, it represents a terrible threat to every aspect of American well-being.

Neither appears to have considered the possibility of complete failure. It seems to me that a string of failed programs will have a slightly different historical impact from what Krauthammer and Thomma appear to be expecting…

Curiously, Obama is following his model, Franklin D. Roosevelt, here as in everything else. The “FDR as national savior” image is almost pure fabrication. The NRA didn’t work. The AAA didn’t work. The PWA, WPA, and the CCC provided only make-work jobs at the lowest economic level. FDR’s insistence on raising taxes led to another collapse late in 1937. Though not often mentioned, the Great Depression was also a double-dipper. (See Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism and Amity Shlaes’ The Forgotten Man for details.)

Only three months later, Hitler saved FDR’s bacon at Munich. By making it clear (to everybody but Neville “Peace in our Time” Chamberlain, anyway) that he was out to devour Europe and would be stopped by nothing short of war, Hitler broke the economic logjam. States began rearming, the tariff barriers dropped, and in a short time, the Depression began to ebb. It was the response to Hitler, not the Depression programs, that rescued Roosevelt’s reputation.

So will Ahmadinejad save Obama? Stranger things have happened. But I have my doubts. When push came to shove, FDR turned out to be a warrior, the exact kind of leader the situation demanded. The man humiliated by the Depression had what it took to become a great warlord. Now, I may be wrong, but I don’t think even the McClatchy papers would claim any such thing for Obama."

When the US Constitution is RE-WRITTEN by the left, I am sure that Entitlement will be one of the guarantees of the Founding Fathers.

Heaven forbid if we have forgotten about the left wing of the colonist during the Revolution, who never broke a sweat in the creation of our country.

The left would have tried to pass laws taking the rifles away from the Minute Men who so gallantly stood up to the British at Lexington and Concord. After all, those were just Tea Partiers abusing their right to bear arms.

Why are there no entries in our US History about the anti-war movement during the Revolution, the War of 1812, the War with Mexico (wrong on this one, La Raza was very active then), the Civil War (the evil Federal Government needs to pay reparations to the slaves after freeing them after half a million fathers, sons, and brothers died setting the slaves free), World War I when we saved the world the first time, World War II when we saved the world the second time (whacky accusation of FDR-a lefty, who conspiracy theorist accuse of allowing the war to start), the Korean War (none of our business), the Vietnam War (make peace, smoke dope, none of our business), the Gulf War (hard to protest this one after Iraq was killing infants in Kuwait), 911 (Bush did it), and Iraq – Afghanistan (one is the just war, Bush illegally invaded Iraq, Obama supports the war in Afghanistan, but wants to walk away).

When the left finalizes our new US History Books, will it be fact or fiction. Wait until the defining event in US History is declared to be Woodstock. Obama will be crowned the greatest President since Carter and Clinton. Great American companies will be GM and Planned ParentHood. Marijuana will be the beer and
re-laxative of choice. San Francisco will be re-named, Santa Pelosisico.
Arnie Rodio will be known as the greatest mayor Lancaster never had.
1994 will be removed from the History books (why would anyone want to learn about how liberal ideology was defeated on a grand scale that year).

In 2010, the Tea Party was known as the worst hate group ever, taking the title away from the KKK and the Nazi party.

It’s a RWing tactic for their base to brainwash them into believing that they are the only one’s who work and pay into the system for the ‘lazy-unemployed-and-welfare-“class” ’. It is also a clever tactic to divide the “classes”, and maintain the status-quo of the wealthy vs the poor. By blending race issues with unemployment benefits, you get a fired-up base who will always be treated as – and feel like the ’victims’—and act accordingly with resentment and hatred for their own fellow man.

avbb:“Why are there no entries in our US History about the anti-war movement during the Revolution”

I don’t know what history books you read, but there is mention of those who were against the Revolutionary War. Most were wealthy land barons who benefited from England with Land Grants for services rendered for the King.

avbb: “the Civil War (the evil Federal Government needs to pay reparations to the slaves after freeing them after half a million fathers, sons, and brothers died setting the slaves free),”

Southern Slave owners were against the progressive efforts from the North to free the slaves, as the North was infiltrating their farms (mostly Land Grant property) before and after the war as Carpetbaggers. The North wanted all the power and wealth, and the south at that time was the Cotton capital of the world – export$ soared over anything the north could produce. The slaves were freed after the war, some stayed on the farms as it was the only home they knew, others moved north for jobs, as the south was destroyed from the war. If you have evidence that the government provided monies for the slaves after the war, aside from an acre and a mule, I’d like to hear it.

The rest of your dialogue contains more glorification of war(s), which killed many of my relatives either with toxic gas or DDT. The fact that these wars happened is nothing we can do about – but there will always be PASSIVISTS and ARM-CHAIR WAR MONGERS. Live with it – it’s what makes this country different than others.

A large portion of the liberal base and left wing base are, sorry to say, the lame and lazy types. I would put a strong wager that most, probably a large 90% of the career welfare recipients, support the Democratic candidate 99% of the time. “Obama gonna pay my mortgage and I won’t have to pay for gas anymore.” Go to any poor black community around the country, and the Democrat will have well over 90% support, even though the Dems do nothing for the poorer communities. In fact, the Dems have done nothing for education, except for Matt K’s case, health care, and the economy.

Don’t get me wrong, most Democrats are hard working people, but the Democratic leadership has made a killing keeping a solid base of welfare recipients on their voting rosters. That is because groups like ACORN, round them up, bus to the polls, and tell them how to vote.

Union members are strong armed into voting for the Democrats with the notion that if they don’t, they will lose their job and benefits. Look at SEIU

Go to any local meeting and count the number of Obama, Kerry, Gore bumper stickers. You won’t find and Bush/Cheney, McCain Palin, or other Republican stickers on their cars. I know, because when I go to my union meetings it is true.

During the 04 campaign, I had a Bush sticker on my old car. The car got keyed on several occasions. It was happening at work. A peer suggested I take the sticker off. It stayed on, and is still on, a bit faded.

Most GOP types, are not career welfare recipients. Most are small business people, big business people, investors, religious conservatives, and veterans.

That doesn’t happen with a Democrat bumper sticker on your car because Republicans and conservatives don’t stoop that low.

If I had an Obama sticker on my car, it wouldn’t be touched. Even as much of a fuckup as the Obama Admin is.

Now if I had an Impeach Obama sticker on my car, that would be another story.

Perhaps I’ll try that. And keep an eye on my car. Catching someone keying my car would be “eventful”….for the keyer. :-)

The last Tea Party function I attended, I did not see any signs of racism. Granted, most people were older whites, but there were others of all races.

Go ahead, claim the Tea Party is racist. Look at the lies that Pelosi and her fellow black Democrats claimed after walking through the crowd of Tea Party supporters the weekend of the Health Care vote. They claimed the “N” word was thrown at them, yet, with hundreds of cameras, no such evidence. If I had been there, I probably would have called Pelosi a Bitch, but I was not there. The Liberal left is so full of contradictions and hypocrital beliefs. In the above video clip of Sheila Jackson Lee announces how she attended church services at the Mount Zion Baptist Church. She quotes the pastor. If a Republican quoted a pastor while speaking at the podium in Congress, Roxi and the others would go nuts. So typical of the left, it is OK for the government to provide the Kuran and prayer time to the prisoners at Gitmo and elsewhere, however, students can’t have a Bible study in a “government” run school. The left supports our enemies because they see our enemies as fighting against the Bush Doctrine, something the left despises.

The whole left wing approach and lack of support for our country during the Iraq War, is a classis example of selective patriotism. When confronted with facts about 911, the left automatically reverts to the conspiracy theory, Bush lied people died, no WMD’s, ect… Facts don’t matter to our bloggers on the left. Only their own ideology. The leaders of th left can do no wrong, however, the GOP leaders are held to a higher standard, for instance, Trent Lott.

As for Sheila Jackson Lee, I bet she never filed a report with the Capital Police about being spat upon and called the “N” word. Again, no video evidence, no witnesses, = no crime. The only crime is that woman lying while speaking at the podium. The problem with the GOP, no one had the balls to call her out on her allegations.

The Great Tea Party-NAACP Racism Fiasco.
From The Political Cesspool

“…now things have gotten even crazier with the whole NAACP/Tea Party brouhaha, so I might as well go for it.

…This was a great opportunity for the Tea Party movement to show some backbone by laughing in the face of the imbeciles at the NAACP. But did they? Of course not. Predictably, they responded in the same tired, pusillanimous manner with which they always respond to these never ending accusations. Instead of replying with a loud BWAHAHAHA! or a “Yeah? What’s your point?” or “So what?” or “Of course we’re racists -we’re white people.

…That’s what “racist” means or “Can any of you race hustlers even spell “racist”?”, they predictably went into their usual bend over and grab their ankles mode. They protested that oh no, we’re not racists at all, we don’t tolerate racists at our rallies which are really huge rainbow coalitions, and it’s the NAACP and the liberals who are the real racists, etc., etc. You know, the lame “Bull Connor was a Democrat!” defense. It never works, but they just keep trotting it out like some lucky charm in the vain hope that this time it will work.

…Racist means white person. Period. Until the Tea Partiers get that through their heads, nothing’s going to change, and they’re never going to be an effective political force. They really, really need to read Racism, Schmacism."

Since I found this statement on the Council for Conservative Citizens – http://cofcc.org/ you tell me!! lol

It’s quite obvious, don’t you think?

Then read their Statement of Principles link and tell me if it doesn’t read like the minutes of a City Council meeting in Lancaster? hahahahahahha!

COFCC is a group of white supremacists who rally against Dems and Conservatives.. They have NOTHING to do with the GOP and on their executive board sits Leonard Wilson, a former Alabama State Committeeman for both Republican and Democratic parties. Lester Maddox, the late former segregationist governor of Georgia, was a charter member.

Gordon Lee Baum is the current CEO. Tom Dover, head of Dover Cylinder Repair is the president.

TO compare this group to the City Council in Lancaster is HILARIOUS until one considers that the flaming lib who posted it, probably believes it and that is scary

NS,

The dingyer libs here try real hard to find anything on conservatives while ignoring liberal racism. Typical bs that roxi plays.

4 percent of Democrats – and 3 percent of Republicans – according to a Los Angeles/Bloomberg poll, would refuse to vote for a black presidential candidate whose views mirror their own. That comes out to almost 3 million Democratic bigots.
