Well, Shorty, as disgusting as militant Islam or “Wahhabism” is – and it certainly is, its terrorist activities pale in comparison to the terrorist activities carried by the United States military. And the terrorist activities of the United States military and thus the United States government constitutes very large portion of what it is that serves as motivation for Wahhaby terrorists. In fact, it was the disgusting behavior of the US government, its Central Intelligence Agency, and its military that caused the modern-day perpetuation of Wahhabism as well as the very creation of many of its outgrowths.
Indeed, terrorism does not exist within a vacuum nor was it initiated within a vacuum.

Guy, you say it pales in comparison to the US military.

How about an example. We cause them to behead, rape, blow themseles up, while killing thousands of citizens?

And then lets compare them to our non-military also. Is there a comparison?

Marino, Randy and others act as if our government is the Virgin Mary incarnate. We never do anything horrific to people. We never institute policies of torture. We never give arms to divide and conquer a country. We never massacre women and children.

The United States does as much dirt as everyone does. We just like to look pure and holy about it. Believe me, behind those walls of justice in Washington lie extremists who kill, butcher and exploit other nations.

What 9/11 did was make Americans wake up and realize what other countries know. We are so use to bombing the hell out of everyone else, we never really felt it on our own shores.

America, welcome to the real world of political intrigue. If you play, sooner or later you pay.

Randy you have done exactly what all pretenders do — twist my words. There was a time when the favorite quote was love it or leave it (America).

People could not site areas of improvement without zealots like yourself as if they were un-American. I’m just a patriotic as you are so you don’t hold any special spot in the limelight for your patriotism over others.

I’m simply saying in English is that America has done its share of dirt around the world. We had to in order to play the game of global politics. We have propped up world leaders and then toppled them. We have killed and massacred people and then pretended to be saints.

It’s not about no loving my country. It’s about not being a hypocrite and pretending America has not had its dirty dealings. I’m willing to be no one’s hands are dirtier than the Bush family with their love of oil or Joe Kennedy. Be real. America is the best nation on the planet but we are not up for Sainthood by any stretch of the imagination.

Denigrate it? Please. Spoken like a true mindless individual who will jump on a Cheney bandwagon in a minute to espouse the virtues of an evil, greedy, self -serving individual.

I feel no urge to apologize for what our country has done past, present or hopefully will do in the future. In the same vein I do not condemn other countries. The game’s afoot so to speak. There will be winners and losers, that is the real world. There are many ways to win. Playing with one’s reluctant self guilt ridden hands tied behind your back is one sure way to lose.

There is a difference between fundamentalist religions in the world. One threatens our lives and liberty the others our liberty.

Millions of African American children die because of drugs being fed into our communities by whites like you, liquor stores being put on every corner because of whites like you, unfair treatment in the criminal justice system because of whites like you.

All our leaders who were angry, whites like you killed starting with the government’s mistreatment of Dr. King Jr.

When he was alive you called him a communist and set attack dogs and water hoses on him. Now that he’s dead — you preach how wonderful he was.

Marino, nobody defends Islamic terrorists. What we do, and should, defend are the millions of Muslims who leave their home countries because they hate the violence just as much as we do.

They are tired of seeing their religion used to defend and promote violence and political power. It isn’t just foreigners that are killed by these terrorists; tens of thousands of Muslims are murdered by the very same terrorists.

American Muslims want to be able to walk into a restaurant, ride on a city bus, and do all the mundane things we take for granted, without fear of being blown to smithereens. That’s why they come here.

What they don’t want is all the harassment their kids suffer at school; the death threats people send to the mosques, and most of all, being blamed for what terrorists do. When incidents like this happen they want to use them as ‘teachable moments’ to show the rest of us that they are just as much against violence as we are. That is why they invite perpetrators of this myth to a mosque so they can learn the truth.

Marino, Muslim organizations send out press releases every day denouncing such actions but the media doesn’t print/air them. Why? Because they are afraid people like you wouldn’t like it. Most Americans cannot separate the religion from the culture.

So they denounce it in other ways, like living quiet lives with dignity and respect for others.

The most recent example of terrorism carried out by the US government is likely to be the “drone missile” attack within Pakistan just two days ago which killed ten Pakistanis. Now of course the Obama administration which, like the Nixon administration that once terrorized Cambodia by slaughtering 500,000 Cambodians, did not have congressional approval to engage in combat within Pakistan claims that, although those killed were not members of Al-Qaeda, all ten were “suspected militants.” But, since I too, as an example, may well be described as a “militant,” it must be asked: Would, say, the British government enjoy the right to kill me?
That many Pakistanis stand opposed to the highly corrupt Pakistani government should be a matter left to Pakistanis. That the US poliical state finds it necessary to illegally intervene in Pakistan’s internal affairs toward the purpose of furthering the objectives of US imperialism, though typical, should not serve to surprise anyone with respect to how the US government continues to fuel hatred, resentment and terrorism throughout much of the Third and Developing worlds. The fact that virtually all Americans remain willfully ignorant of the steady stream of terrorism that the United States government has subjected much of the rest of the world to since the establishment of the Monroe Doctrine, though both tragic and inexcusable, does not negate that history – history that continues on to this very minute.

Feb. 5) – Honor killings are not something new to many people in Turkey. But the death of a 16-year-old girl who was buried alive for talking to boys has been revealed to be a particularly gruesome killing and has stirred strong reactions.

“The autopsy result is bloodcurdling,” an unidentified official told the Anatolia news agency Thursday, Agence France-Press reported. “According to our findings, the girl — who had no bruises on her body and no sign of narcotics or poison in her blood — was alive and fully conscious when she was buried.”

The girl’s father and grandfather are to be put on trial for burying her alive, reportedly because they thought her friendship with boys had brought shame and dishonor to the family.

The body of Medine Memi was found in a sitting position with hands tied in a 6½-foot hole under a chicken coop at the family house in Kahta in southeast Turkey. Police discovered the body following a tip-off 40 days after she went missing, the agency said.

According to a postmortem examination, the agency added, the girl’s lungs and stomach contained significant amounts of soil, confirming she was alive when she was buried.

The girl had repeatedly tried to tell the police that she had been beaten by her father and grandfather, the London Times reported today. “She tried to take refuge at the police station three times, and she was sent home three times,” her mother, Immihan, said after the body was discovered in December.

The girl’s father, the Times added, was reported as saying at the time, “She has male friends. We are uneasy about that.”

Reaction to the killing was particularly strong in remarks posted on the Web site of a religious television channel, Samanyolu, the London paper reported.

“The punishment for whosoever should kill with intent is the hell where he will languish forever,” one poster said, adding, “Allah has cursed him and prepared great pain for him.”

Another comment on the site said, “You named your daughter after the holy city of Medina but your mind is left over from the earlier Age of Ignorance.”

Honor killings are most prevalent in Turkey’s predominantly Kurdish southeast, the Anatolia agency said. But the practice has spread to cities and even abroad, largely through migration, with cases reported in the U.S. and U.K.

When Kamal al-Khatib spoke to the Lancaster City Council, he chastised Sherry Marquez for saying the New York woman whose wife was killed was not an honor killing. Cybertariat says...

As dispicable as what so-called honor killings are, their condemnation by those within this largely sexist society who do not respect a woman’s right to choose rings terribly hollow. Moreover, the US political state has supported and continues to support several Islamic societies in which “honor” killings are practiced. Kuwait, as but a single example, played willing host to several such killings all the while the US government propped (up) the Kuwaiti government during the Gulf War and without a hypocritical peep about Kuwaiti “honor killings” from the likes of Randy.

How about a different perspective. Let’s say we (America), were not the superpower we are/were. Lets say we were rich in a natural resource that every country on earth needed. Let us then suppose we were the Christian people we profess to be. If another nation that we saw as heathen, or that we saw as hypocritical attacked us and claimed we were responsible for terrorist acts in other nations what would our response be? If we had foreign troops on our streets and checkpoints run by foreign militaries what would our reaction be? If these same troops were accused and convicted of rape and murder of innocent civilians would we cooperate with the foreign entity? If we personally did not pick up arms to fight the invaders, would we not aid those who did? If we were outgunned and outmanned would we not do whatever necessary to try and even the odds of battle? The fact that Osama bin Laden initially denied having any connection to 9/11 and actually said it was carried out by our own government, mixed with the fact the FBI are not charging him with 9/11 due to lack of evidence should make a rational thinker THINK. If the FBI do not have the evidence to charge him then how can the media and government repeatedly lay blame on him and Al CIA-duh? Answer: it only need be said repeatedly in media for Americans to believe it and take it as scripture.
